The BOYS are back in town. Purple eyed drones are their official name. Queens lay male bees on the bottoms of frames so it’s very common that some are uncapped during hive inspections. There are drones being laid in ALL the hives therefore the male population will be at an all time high soon. Here you can see the nurse bees quickly attending to the opened drone cells. It’s an emergency situation for them but a great opportunity to show you the infamous purple eyes that only drones have.
