Chris grew up in South Africa where he later became a Safari Guide in his younger years. He has always been a conservationist at heart.
Sharee grew up on a farm in North Dakota. Caring for the farm animals was part of her daily life. After acquiring 5 acres of their own land in Marysville OH- Chris approached Sharee with a thought of doing something good & what might you think of keeping honeybees?
In 2016 they purchased their first hive. At first most of the beekeeping responsibilities were of Chris with the help of their then teenage daughter.
After she graduated the following year- Sharee became actively involved in keeping the bees in her place.
In 2018 they created Godley’s Gold LLC and began selling honey. With only a few hives they sold out very quickly.
In 2019 they were asked by friends to remove honeybees who had taken up residence on their front porch. This was the beginning of the Relocate & Rescue potion of their business.
To date Blue hive remains on their property and is actively collecting honey.
2020 was the year our small little dream of doing good became a real operation. We went from 5 Hives to 16 and in 2021 it multiplied to 35. All of our rescue hives are cared for naturally with the hopes they not only survive but thrive in their new home. The family is actively involved in all the honey harvests and one of their sons has even suited up to help his mom rescue a swarm. Although terrified he found it to be a very rewarding experience afterwards. It is their hope to continue to raise and rescue as well as educate on the importance of honeybees & why we need them.
